Honoring Veterans at Belfry School

Belfry School held a Veterans Day Celebration this Wednesday to honor family and community members that serve or have served in the Armed Forces. The American Legion Post #84 presented the colors, and fellow Belfry Alumni (2013), American Legion Post Commander, and Marine Corporal Sam Kuntz spoke about the importance of Veterans Day and the sacrifices that our veterans give for our country. "Everyone comes back changed, and that is a sacrifice, you are never the same person". Belfry Student Ethan Lebrun won the Veterans Day essay contest and read aloud his essay during the program. " We should take a moment to thank everyone who has served, or is serving our country. Thank them for the freedom they bring into your life and into the lives of everyone around you". Students also researched within their own families who fought and served in our country's past wars. They spoke with pride about the service of family members and thanked them for fighting for their freedom. Tana Thompson ended the program by singing the National Anthem. The Belfry School students and staff are thankful to our community and country's Veterans. Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and for our freedom.
